Earth System Modelling (ESM)
A key activity within the programme is the development of the Australian Community Climate and Earth-System Simulator (ACCESS) which occupies the hub of the modelling activities at the Centre. ACCESS provides the core capability to provide Australia with the next generation capability for weather prediction and climate/climate change simulations, and for diagnosing, analysing and forecasting Australia's climate-sensitive natural resource systems (rainfall, soil water, vegetation) to improve management throughout the coming decades. It brings together Bureau, CSIRO and university sector resources to establish for the first time a critical mass in earth system modelling.
