Atmosphere-Land Observation and Assessment (ALOA):   Research Areas

  • Measurement of atmospheric composition and processes (reactive gas and aerosol), spanning local to global scales.
  • Analysis of long term time series of clouds, radiation, GHG, aerosol and reactive species for climate change studies and national/international assessments at Earth Observing System supersites.
  • Input data for weather and related environmental prediction systems.
  • Experimental datasets for understanding atmosphere/earth physical processes.
  • Data and processes (atmosphere and land) for the development and verification of parameterisations and data assimilation systems.
  • The detection of environmental changes.
  • Observations and analyses for testing the atmospheric and land surface components of earth-system and climate models.
  • Improved understanding of the global carbon cycle, including interactions and feedbacks between its biophysical and human dimensions
