CAWCR Modelling Workshop 2009: Modelling & Understanding High Impact Weather

The Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research (CAWCR), a joint venture of CSIRO and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, will hold its third annual Modelling Workshop from 30th November - 2nd December 2009. Dr Debbie Abbs and Dr John McBride are workshop Co-Chairs. The workshop will explore the theme of high impact weather, and will be held in the Conference Rooms on level 6 of the Bureau of Meteorology's Head Office, 700 Collins Street, Melbourne.

A number of prominent scientists and experts from overseas, Australian research agencies and universities have been invited to give presentations on high impact weather.

Key themes for the workshop are:

  • Tropical Cyclones
  • Heat, Drought and Fire Weather
  • Mid-latitude and Convective Storms

  • Graham Mills (Bureau of Meteorology).

Presenters, are requested to please follow the guidelines for the format of your short paper, and submit in electronic form to by 11th November 2009 . Papers will be published as extended abstracts in a workshop proceedings volume, and will be made available online.
